It is important to understand that every organization has its own set of processes, and there are many variations in terms of the courses or modules that will be necessary for an individual to successfully complete the training required for his or her job. In general, however, it would cost an organization anywhere from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars for someone to undergo such a course. In addition to this monetary outlay, time and effort must go into making sure the proper modules are being taken, the material learned is relevant, and that all necessary documentation is properly and completely completed and filed.
So the question becomes, why would anyone pay the cost associated with such a program? The answer lies in the fact that many organizations find it necessary to replace existing employees with newer ones who have not gone through such a program. When someone leaves, it is the responsibility of the organization that he or she has gone through the appropriate HRci phr certification program and that the person has met all other requirements necessary for re-certification. If you are unsure as to whether you would need to pay the HRci phr certification fee or not, take the time to contact your human resources manager to find out.
If the answer is yes, then chances are, you will have no problem receiving the funds from the government. Some organizations do charge an HRci phr certification fee for the initial application and/or training only. However, most organizations have policies in place that require all applicants to be assessed prior to being accepted for such a certification training program. As part of this assessment process, the HRci phr certification fee may be requested at that time. If the answer is no, then you may choose to continue to pursue the recertification fee after completion of the program.
Now, if the answer is yes, you would then need to review the complete application materials provided to you by the company. Some of the items would include proof of education, work experience, and a list of courses already taken. You would need to carefully review all the forms to be sure they are all correct and complete. If any information is incomplete, ask the HRci phr team for clarification.
Once you have carefully reviewed and assessed the application materials, it is important to then contact the HRci phr team. If you still have questions, there are many resources available on the web. Typically, there will be a toll free number or e-mail address provided for you to contact them. Any questions or concerns you may have can be answered by one of their staff members.
You would then have a few days to return to the program and either take the entire course online, or select a specific course to take by fax. Some companies would require you to print out the training materials that you need, and some would not. Again, this would depend on the company policies.
After being accepted into the program, you would have up to 12 months to complete the course and meet all the requirements. Once accepted, your recertification fee will become due on the first of every month. At that point, you will have fulfilled all of the requirements of the company, and you will no longer be required to pay the HRci phr certification fee. You will then be able to start receiving benefits from the certificate and begin working as an HR CI.
